Filly has Passion To Win in opening maiden

ULMARRA trainer Todd Fletcher made no reservations about Tomar ahead of her long-awaited return from injury at Clarence River Jockey Club on Tuesday.

"She's has had about 15 months off with a stress fracture in her hind leg," Fletcher said.

"She's had a couple of jump outs in the trials to bring up her up to this stage, but we'll see how it all pans out.

"I'm not real pleased with the barrier draw. She seems to have a habit of drawing wide gates."

Tomar started 'out in the carpark' in barrier 15 for the first race of the day, the Happy Chinese New Year Maiden Plate (1006m).

Indeed Tomar ($9, Raymond Spokes) never featured, finishing in the pack in seventh place. Favourites Passion To Win ($3, Marlon Dolendo) and Joe Cool ($3.60 Matthew McGuren) took up the major placings, trained by Casino's Ian Savins and Broadmeadow's Ken Lantry respectively.

$81 long hop Noah's Secret (Anthony Townsend), who finished last at Deepwater last start, was third.
