Firebirds to roll out red carpet for former star

NETBALL: The Queensland Firebirds will welcome back former star Kim Ravaillion when they host the Diamonds-studded Collingwood Magpies on Saturday in the second round of Super Netball.

Ravaillion starred in four grand finals and won two premierships across a glittering career in Brisbane before heading south.

After Collingwood were upset by Melbourne Vixens last weekend, Firebirds coach Roselee Jencke said her side would be wary of the bounce-back effect.

"Collingwood have stars all over the court and had a very disappointing performance they'll be wanting to rectify, which makes them exceptionally dangerous," Jencke said.

"We'll be really wary of that. We just have to work hard in the tussle and contest. We have to make it difficult for them to feed Caitlin Thwaites and that comes from the whole team defending and doing their job against their opponent.

The Firebirds will be looking to put their first two points of the season on the board after rallying to earn a 56-all draw against cross-town rivals Sunshine Coast Lightning last Saturday.

"We won three of the four quarters against Sunshine Coast Lightning, but we really dug a hole for ourselves in that second quarter. We didn't value possession and gave away too many easy balls. We'll be looking to use the ball a lot better on the weekend and rectify things we didn't execute effectively," Jencke said.
