The first Baywatch trailer is here, and it's hilarious

THE first trailer for the upcoming Baywatch movie is here and it looks like it could be one of the big hits of next year.

Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron star in the tongue-in-cheek reboot of the popular '90s TV series which made stars out of David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

Johnson and Efron play two 'unlikely prospective lifeguards' who vie for jobs alongside the buff bodies who patrol a beach in California.

Johnson tweeted a link to the trailer, calling the new cast "the avengers of the beach but super dysfunctional".

Seth Gordon, the man behind big-screen comedies Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, directs the film, which is scheduled for release in May to coincide with America's Memorial Day long weekend.

Hasselhoff and Anderson will both make cameos in the new film, which pokes fun at the TV show's signature slow-motion running scenes.
