First Lismore Karaoke Cup attracts 750 people

LIMITED tickets are still available for the Inaugural Lismore Corporate Karaoke Cup, which has already filled 750 seats.

The event on April 16 will support people struggling to afford cancer treatment in Lismore through the Crackin' Cancer Compassionate Fund.

The Cup invited businesses to enter a staff member to sing a song - karaoke style.

Lismore's medical, legal, financial and real estate sectors have jumped on board, with 19 total singers entered to compete.

Around 140 tickets are still available to the general public, and those tickets will become the voting slips on the night to vote for your preferred singer.

The Crackin' Cancer committee members, Mark Nash, Marshall Fittler and Patrick Fitz-Bugden are organising the event.

"Without question (we're) the three most nervous attendees of the evening," Mr Fitz-Bugden said.

"(We) have been goaded into starting proceedings by singing the opening number."

"The Crackin' Cancer committee has been absolutely gobsmacked by its response," Mr Fitz-Bugden said.

He said he wouldn't be surprised if every seat at the venue, the Lismore Workers Club Auditorium, was filled.

Mr Fitz-Bugden said Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell and Member for Page Kevin Hogan have volunteered their time for the evening.

"Kevin will be 'Mr Popular' on the night, as he, supported by wife Karen, have agreed to select and present a huge cheque to the best decorated corporate table in the room," Mr Fitz-Bugden said.

"(Jenny Dowell) has been charged with the duty of presenting the eventual winner of the Lismore Corporate Karaoke Cup."

There will also be an auction on the evening, attracting packages and items such as flights, resort accommodation and a ride-on mower.

The Cup begins at 7.30pm with tickets costing $10 each.

It is recommended that attendants arrive by 6.30pm to allow for parking, entry and taking their seats.

Cedars Bistro will open from 5.30pm for this occassion while the new Reflections Coffee Lounge on the ground floor is open all hours.

Book tickets by calling the Workers Club on 6621 7401.
