First sail of season a success
THE FIRST Big River Sailing Club meeting of the season doubled as Bob Eggins' first in his new bright yellow Weta trimaran.
Eggins sailed catamarans for many years - most recently an A-class catamaran - and after a short stint in the Sabre fleet has turned his attention to the trima- rans.
And if his smile is any- thing to go by, the first day was a happily successful one.
He was one of many members who turned out for Big River's Opening Day, with people travelling from as far away as Ballina, Barker's Vale and Casino.
The lure of a day out on the pristine Clarence River proved too much for Grafton Sailing Club's Brian Wright, who helped support the event in his Laser.
Glen Williams made his return from injury in his OK dinghy.
Williams was glad to be back on deck, and has his sights set on Australian selection for the World OK dinghy titles later this year.
Emily Brown had her first experience of dinghy racing, crewing with Joe O'Keefe who tilled the Tasar.
The light to moderate south-easterly breeze was just perfect to ease back into sailing after the winter break.

Sabres: Lea Foster
