Hero cops helps five children escape Rocky inferno

UPDATE 2PM: The five children pulled from a house fire last night are all stable in hospital.

Two policewomen who arrived on scene before fire crews have been commended for their bravery in the early minutes of the blaze.

"We recognise and thank the heroic actions of our police women Senior Constable Gilluley and Constable Dziewicki today," A QPS statement read.

"They rescued residents in a house fire in Bramble St overnight including an 18-month-old baby."

A man believed to be an occupant of the house posted to a Facebook community group reassuring concerned locals that the children were all okay.

He said he was still assessing the damage.

Investigations are continuing.

UPDATE: A Queensland Fire Service inspector said the fire appears to be "accidental" and "not suspicious" following an inspection of the property earlier this morning.

Queensland Police are still investigating the blaze

INITIAL: Emergency services have responded to a house fire in Norman Gardens just before midnight last night.

Fire crews were called to the Bramble St blaze and were able to contain the fire to one bedroom, according to a Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman.

Police spent the night on the scene and have declared it a crime scene.

According to multiple social media posts from people claiming to have witnessed the fire, a heroic policewoman was observed helping the occupants, including a small baby, from the house.

Queensland Ambulance Services said total of eight patients were assessed on scene.

Five children were transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for precautionary measures for potential smoke inhalation while three other patients declined further treatment.

More to come.
