Five foreign tourists airlifted after 4WD rolls on Fraser Is

A FOUR-wheel-drive on Fraser Island has rolled, tossing around the eight foreign tourists inside.

Five of them were airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Police believe at 2.30pm on Thursday, the 4WD was travelling south on Eastern Beach about 1.2km north of the Maheno Wreck when the driver lost control.

The driver was an English tourist, the passengers included two Irish nationals, two Germans, two from Denmark and a Swede.

Police are now investigating.
