Foal saved before fatal feed

A TERRIFIED three-day-old filly is back with its mother after being stolen by love-struck teenagers a fortnight ago.

For seven-and-a-half hours, Tez Mackay and daughter Chaianne scoured the horizon after the newborn went missing from their Greenmount property.

"Two teenage girls thought she was very cute and hid her inside the garage on a nearby property," Ms Mackay said.

"They were on holidays at their grandparent's house and were just about to feed her cow's milk which would have killed her straight away."

Luckily, the embarrassed grandparents found "Dior" the wayward filly and returned her to her rightful owners.

"She was looking very dehydrated, but she ran straight to her mother," Ms Mackay said.

"We're just lucky we found her in time - they're both a lot happier now they're back together."

Ms Mackay's message to would-be horse thieves?

"They might be cute and they're easy to fall in love with, but you just can't do that," she said.

"If these girls had just asked to come over and play with her, there never would have been a problem."
