Fraud arrest for alleged car re-birthing

UPDATE: Acting Coffs/Clarence Crime Manager Detective Sergeant Ian Corcoran updated local media on the latest information regarding an on-going investigation into car re-birthing. 

EARLIER:

A MAN has been charged with fraud-related offences following a police investigation into car re-birthing on the Coffs Coast.

Strike Force Neerim was established in March, with two search warrants executed yesterday on premises at Bosworth Rd, Woolgoolga, and Willis Rd, Woolgoolga.

Police seized two dual-cab utilities, which officers will allege had undergone illegal modifications and documentation.

A 45-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with two counts of dishonestly possessing interfered-with unique identifiers, and one count of dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday, May 30.
