Cycling from Grafton to Inverell

FOR these riders, this is their Tour de France.

Today’s G2I Cycling Challenge is a gruelling 228km trek which will take the average amateur rider more than six hours to complete.

More than 130 will roll out of Grafton’s McKittrick Park this morning, all in the name of raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House.

The event is different from September’s Grafton to Inverell Cycling Classic as participants nominate a time to beat and race against the clock, with a greater emphasis on fun.

Competitors range in age from under-13 to 80.

Categories include under-23s, Elite Men and Women and both male and female Masters.

Local entrants include Nigel Blake, Craig McKenzie and 50-year-old John Harrison, who is aiming to finish within nine hours.
