From many influences

SOME of the freshest, most innovative new music is coming from the Mullumbimby area.

One band sitting square in the middle of this melting pot is Broadfoot and you can catch them at the Pacific Hotel on Saturday night.

The four-piece group has toured the North Coast extensively and built a reputation for high-energy, dance-floor friendly music.

Broadfoot's music defies easy categorisation. The band is influenced by an enormous range of music, musicians and styles - from classic '50s, '60s and '70s rock to blues music, reggae, jazz, soul, disco, funk, country, folk, classical; just about any style.

Songwriting and lead vocals are shared among the band, and their warm two, three or four-part harmonies are a distinguishing feature of Broadfoot's live sound.

Their ever-expanding range of passionate, vibrant original material is complemented by a dip into the band's heady reservoir of covers where the diverse and interesting selection reflects the musical tastes and influences of the different band members.

As much as their hearts lie with live music, members of Broadfoot are also no strangers to the recording studio and have several albums of original music under their belts.

Catch Broadfoot at the Pacific Hotel from 9.30pm on Saturday night.
