Frost wins heavyweight goanna pulling title
GOANNA PULLING: Nathan Frost has got a story to tell his mates when he gets home to Toowoomba, after claiming the title of Australian Men's Heavyweight champion at the Australian National Goanna Pulling Championsips in Wooli on Sunday.
However heading home yesterday, he said he was feeling the after-effects of the competition.
"I'm a bit sore now, the neck is a bit tense,” he said.
"There's some big boys to drag there but it definitely felt good to win.”
The first-time national champion was talked in to competing at the event by some mates after coming to the Clarence Valley for a few nights over the long weekend.
"I came across the event on Facebook actually, and a few of my mates thought I should have a go,” Frost said.
"It sounded like a bit of fun so I decided to enter and I came away with a win. I have done a bit of goanna pulling before, but not in a competition or anything.
"This is the first time in my life I've competed at the championships in Wooli so to win is pretty special.”
With an Australian title now his to defend, Frost said he would definitely be back to Wooli again next year. As for convincing people he is a new Australian champion?
"There might be a few raised eyebrows when I tell people I'm an Australian champion, but I'll just have to show them the videos,” Frost said.
"Nothing else matters really, I'm an Australian champion, no-one can take that away from me.”
