Funding for trade training

EMPLOYERS and workers of the building and construction industry are being encouraged to start planning now and take advantage of training and funding initiatives available from Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ).

Following on from the previous Licensing and Prescribed Occupations reimbursement program, CSQ has invested greater funding in its Short Courses Program for existing building and construction workers.

The program helps fund training which focuses on the safety requirements of the industry and the associated requirements of licensing.

The training assistance supports workers in occupations including rigging, dogging, plumbing, electrical trades and plastic welding.

Industry workers can also gain recognition for existing skills, through CSQ's Skills Assessment and Gap Training program.

As well as formally recognising skills, the program can identify gaps in workplace skilling and provide additional training to help workers with career development.

For those workers who already have a qualification but are interested in broadening their knowledge and experience, CSQ offers the Higher Level Skills Program.

This program provides funding support for workers to gain higher level qualifications, enabling career development opportunities while assisting employers to fill senior positions and management roles.

To help ensure the industry can meet future skills demands, employers are being encouraged to assist out-of-trade apprentices and trainees to remain in the industry with support from CSQ.

Recommencement incentives of up to $3000 are available for eligible employers and group training organisations.

To find out further details on how to access funding and training support, contact CSQ for more details.
