Futsal stars eye Vikings
NEXT week Grafton High, along with South Grafton and Maclean High schools, will travel to Coffs Harbour to compete in the first round of the Vikings Futsal Schools Tournament.
Competition will be tough as they strive to be in the top two teams of their age groups, so they can progress to the next level in Port Macquarie.
With the likes of Jack Chard and Sam Zuill, who recently competed at the regional championships in Queensland, and
Billy Hayes, who has been selected in the Australian rep team that tours Britain later in the year, the Grafton Boys will be hard to beat.
Down river, Maclean will have players like Alex Robison, who has recently returned from the Australian tour of China, and Cameron Ramsay, who is set to play in Spain.
But don't dismiss South High either, as it will have a strong girls' side with Crystal Mawhinney and Jaylarney Ballangary, who have played in the Grafton Open Women's representative team for the past two years.
The tournament has attracted so much interest this year that the round is being played at two venues.
Some of the best futsal in the state will be played next Tuesday and our local teams will be some of the stand-outs.
So stay tuned to find out who reigns supreme.
