ADELAIDE United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic is now poised to break the appearance record for his club, after signing a three-year extension yesterday.
Galekovic was set to come off contract at the end of this season and was free to explore his options from November 1.
But the Socceroo, dual Adelaide United club champion and two-time A-League Goalkeeper of the Year, now appears a certainty to surpass former Reds captain Travis Dodd's record of 183 appearances, in all competitions for the club.
Nine games in arrears of that mark, the 32-year-old's new deal should see him go well past the 200-game
Galekovic was happy to re-sign at the club, saying it has moved on from the coaching dramas it endured last season, and it appears settled now under new mentor Josep Gombau.
"I'm really happy to have signed on with the club for another three years," Galekovic said.
"It's fair to say five months ago I wasn't sure what I wanted to do once my contract came up.
"But there is a really good feeling around the club and the squad now, I'm really enjoying my football and what is happening here."
The Reds will host the Victory at Coopers Stadium this Friday night.
