Midnight Xbox One launch ends with armed robbery

A YOUNG couple walking home with an Xbox One console were the victims of armed robbery just moments after leaving a midnight launch party for the new gaming console.

Just after midnight, the Deception Bay man and woman, both 18, were approached from behind by three men on George St.

They verbally threatened the pair with a gun and demanded a backpack, containing the new gaming console.

The pair attempted to run away but the three males caught up with them and both the man and woman were pushed to the ground.

The three men threatened, punched and kicked the man until he gave up the backpack.

The three men fled on foot with the gaming console.

The pair were treated for cuts and abrasions.
