GDSC Easts finish cricket season with a bang

CRICKET: GDSC Easts top grade side finally have something to cheer about after winning their first match of the season against Westlawn in Cleavers Night Cricket on Wednesday.

For many of the Easts side it was their last match of the season and a good way to go out.

Regular first grade captain Ben Hill praised the efforts of night cricket captain Brendan 'BP' Palmer in leading the side to their first win.

"A lot of thanks has to go to BP," Hill said. "He provided great leadership last night to pull the boys to victory.

"The batsmen pulled their weight for a change with almost everyone getting a start.

"The bowlers had a decent target to bowl to and it really gave them the confidence to attack."

Hill who has not had much to celebrate in his first season back in the Easts Premier League team said the night took a weight off the players.

"It was very enjoyable, just being able to relax a bit more and not have to worry too much," he said.

"We are starting to get the winning feeling, now."
