Gear up for gig

TAKING a quick break during his sound check yesterday afternoon, the ever-hospitable and friendly Leo Sayer spared a few minutes to chat.

“It's just a shame that I have missed Jacaranda time. I would have loved to have seen the whole town speckled with purple,” he said.

The veteran, who turns 63 this year, has been out on the road since March and simply can't get enough of it.

“I am doing 62 of my own shows this year, and getting out to some places I never knew existed.

“We have been as far north as Proserpine and as far west as Fremantle and then everywhere in between.”

Yesterday Leo also tied up recording for a Myer Christmas Album at Noosa Heads before heading to Grafton for the show.

“I just feel fantastic about being able to get into the studio again.”
