Ghosts' Cup gift for new season

THE Grafton Ghosts will receive the best possible pre-season gift tonight when the 2010 NRRRL champions finally get their hands on the Clayton’s Cup.

Last term’s undefeated campaign saw Col Speed’s men crowned NSW Country Rugby League’s best side, but they have since endured a long wait to get their hands on the prize.

The wait ends at Grafton’s Albion Hotel at 6.30pm.

“It’s an exciting time for the club because we are going into a new season with confidence and we have a strong support base,” Ghosts president Michael Rogan said.

“It’s an open invitation to everyone, who not only follows the Ghosts, but wants to see an historic moment for Clarence Valley rugby league.”

CRL president Jock Colley will be joined by CRL senior vice-president and NRL Indigenous All Stars manager John ‘Choc’ Anderson, CRL junior vice-president Doug Harrison, NRRRL treasurer Garry Williams and NRRRL president Brian Rix in handing over the Clayton’s Cup.

“The Ghosts would also like to take the opportunity to thank out-going NRRRL president Robin Harley for all his work over the years,” Rogan said.

The night will also double as the announcement of the Ghosts’ major sponsor. All players will attend ahead of their clash with Evans Head at Jabor Park, South Grafton, at 1pm tomorrow.
