Ghosts start season in style

THE enthusiasm of the Grafton Ghosts under-9s on Saturday was inspiring.

With 11 boys making the trip to Evans Head for the first carnival of the season.

The boys were on fire following the game plan to perfection.

We trialled having a dedicated dummy-half and first receiver and that seemed to give the boys a great structure in attack.

Damon Hookey, Ben Liyou, Byron Wilson and Macca Taylor had some great rampaging runs up the middle of the ruck.

Brock Woods, Zac Young, Dean Elks and Jack Hancock all proved hard for the defence to contain, with their speed and agility.

The boys defence was also very solid with lots of low tackles.

Dylan Lucas, Ethan Striegher and Paul Cobia provided the back bone of our defensive line.

It is amazing to see the improvement from one year to the next.

All the boys seemed to have a great game and enjoyed getting out there.

This week’s KFC sports award went to Jack Hancock who was on debut, having a cracking game, making heaps of great runs and bone jarring defence.
