Maclean girls wanna have fun

SEEING how much fun her sister Danica had when she entered the 2008 Maclean Showgirl competition inspired Stephanie Smith to put herself in the running for this year’s title.

“She had a fun time doing it and it has interested me ever since,” Stephanie said.

“It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the rural area and meet lots of people.”

Born in Maclean, the Year 12 student at Maclean High School said the show had always been an annual event she and her family attended.

“We attend the show religiously every year. It’s a lot of fun,” she said.

This year is not the first time Stephanie has competed at the Maclean show, with her artworks and drawings earning her a few awards over the years.

“I picked up a few seconds and thirds for drawings and artworks,” she said.

The aspiring law student said she would be competing against her friend Charlotte Headon for the 2011 title.

Nominations for Maclean Showgirl are still open.

To nominate for the title, contact Nancy Brown on 6645 3246 or 0418 797 206.

The deadline for entries is April 29.
