Gold medals for trio

GRAFTON had three members of the NSW PSSA team that won the gold medal at the School Sport Australia Girls Hockey Championships at Hobart recently.

Laura Harley (St Joseph's, Sth Grafton), Grace Young (St Joseph's, Sth Grafton) and Georgina Munro (Clarence Valley Anglican School) starred for the champion side.

NSW defeated South Australia 5-0 in its first game, then played two tough matches on day two, prevailing 2-1 over Western Australia and 1-0 against Qld.

They defeated hosts Tasmania 4-0, then came up against the other undefeated team, Victoria, and the 2-0 win ensured the gold medal. NSW went on to defeat ACT 7-0.

Meanwhile, Westlawn Public School's Elliott Speed represented the NSW PSSA Boys team that finished third for a bronze medal.
