Good day at track - bet on it

HORSE racing in Grafton will be anything but ordinary as the inaugural Blues, Brews and BBQs Ulmarra Chip in Cup Day kicks off tomorrow.

With an early day of racing, wine and beer tasting, gourmet BBQ and a host of bands, there will be something for everyone.

Chief executive of the Clarence River Jockey Club, Bradley de Martino Rosaroll, is looking forward to the day and expanding the uses of the racecourse.

“We were looking for other feature race days outside of the July Carnival and we are looking at other uses for our facility so it gets used all year round,” he said.

The jockey club hopes to make the program an annual event.

“Hopefully we will get a crowd this year and then continue to grow the event in coming years,” Mr de Martino Rosaroll said.

Gates open at 10am and the first race will run at 10.30am. The bands and BBQ will begin at 12.30 and continue until 7pm. Tickets are $10.
