CURRUMBIN Alley's dangerous sand build up has State Government heads buried in it, says MP Jann Stuckey.
Ms Stuckey invited Shadow Minister for Main Roads, Fisheries and Marine Infrastructure Dr Mark Robinson to inspect the estuary yesterday.
Mr Robinson said he was concerned about the Alley's use by both surfers and boaties combined with sand blocking the bar.
"We need to look at all the options: what the government has been doing, what can be done and ongoing costs to provide a safer environment for boaties and surfers to mix."
Ms Stuckey said dangers she blamed on the State Government would be heightened as summer visitors unfamiliar with the bar arrive to surf, stand up paddleboard or boat on it.
Minister for Main Roads Fisheries and Marine Infrastructure Craig Wallace's office did not respond to the Daily News.
A 42-year-old Currumbin Waters man died in May this year after being struck by a boat entering Currumbin Creek.
