Grafton fires up at regatta

THE Condong Dragonboat Regatta was held on Sunday on the banks of the beautiful Tweed River. The day started with great promise as the winter sun streamed down, highlighting the magnificence of Mt Warning as the backdrop to this setting.

The Grafton Dragonboat Club had a formidable presence with three teams competing throughout the day.

Even though the competition was fierce, the undisputed winners of the Sports Team Division, was Grafton twice over. The All Ladies team, still very newly formed, proved themselves to be the champions of the day in the ladies Section and the Mixed Team powered to finish first.

Yet again Grafton Dragonboat Club proved that they were certainly not the “Sleeping Dragon” at this regatta, taking home two “Fiery Dragon” Trophies.

Well done Grafton Dragons.

The Grafton Dragon Boat Club always welcomes new faces, so if you are interested in having a go at paddling, you are most welcome to join the Beginner’s Paddling Sessions each Tuesday at 4.30pm and Saturday’s at 9.15am infront of the Crown Hotel.
