Girls go head to head in decider

TWO NRL teams, two passionate supporters, one game remaining and room for only one winner.

The 2010 Telstra Premiership Grand Final kicks off tomorrow at 5pm between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters.

If you ask Sharon McCarron who that winner will be, she will tell you the Sydney Roosters will triumph.

However, if you repeated the same question to Sharryn Porth, you will get a completely different and very direct answer.

“I’m 100 per cent confident the Dragons’ boys will bring it home,” she announced.

“I’ve been a Dragons’ supporter for 32 years and I know they can win the premiership.”

Ms McCarron scoffs at that.

Both women are employees of Spar in Maclean – Ms McCarron works in the dairy section and Ms Porth in fruit and veg.

Yesterday, they arrived at work proudly displaying their true colours and it didn’t end there.

The dairy section in Spar was soon draped in red, white and blue streamers while the fruit and veg section became immersed in red and white.

It remains to be seen which section is sporting the winning colours.

“Sharon and I get along very well but there has been a fair bit of sledging happening,” Ms Porth said.

Ms McCarron responded to Ms Porth’s comments, describing her as a “very cheeky woman”.

“I’ve been supporting the Roosters from the day I opened my eyes and after they win tomorrow I will be giving Sharryn a bit of grief when she comes into work on Tuesday.”

Ms Porth said when the Dragons claim victory she will celebrate with “a few cold beers”.

“My husband supports the Roosters so I definitely won’t be sharing with him,” she laughed.
