Model moves to get ahead
MOVING to Sydney from Grafton three months ago has proven to be very beneficial for aspiring model Shanelle Maloney.
The 20-year-old has just been announced as one of the 25 finalists in a modelling competition run by Sydney-based magazine, Star Central.
If announced the winner at the grand final on November 26, Shanelle will win more than $3000 in cash and prizes as well as being featured in the publication.
Win, lose, or draw, however, she is happy with her achievements.
"I'm just stoked to make the finals. A few hundred people applied so to be in the top few is amazing. The experience has really been invaluable to my career in the long run. So far we have done two photo shoots and one video clip.
"As well as that, all of the finalists are guaranteed to appear in Star Central," she said.
Shanelle never thought she would be a model and got into the field after school through doing promotional modelling around the Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Inverell areas.
"I also entered a few of the regional competitions like Miss Country Girl. It all really started for me when I put my profile up on a website called Star Now.
"From there, I started booking jobs."
In the long run, Shanelle would love to keep going with photographic modelling rather than on the catwalk.
