Grafton mourns Bunny’s passing

GRAFTON is mourning the death of its unofficial mayor - David "Bunny" Daley.

The well-loved local died at the weekend after suffering ill-health for some time.

The Clarence Valley's official mayor, Richie Williamson, yesterday paid tribute to Bunny.

"Myself and Bunny were friends and on behalf of the council I offer our condolences to Bunny's family and friends on what is a very sad occasion," he said.

"I think Bunny was just a very likeable person; he was always up for a chat and I think people just engaged with Bunny and respected Bunny and he will be greatly missed."

Cr Williamson fondly remembered celebrating Bunny's 60th birthday in 2011.

"Myself and Bunny got up and sang George Miller's classic, King of the Road," he said.

"He was a nice man and when I think of Bunny, which I have been over the weekend, I have been saddened, but a smile comes to my face because of good times we have had together.

"It's a sad time and the community over the next few days will be remembering and reflecting and honouring the life of Bunny."

Troy Cassar-Daley took to Facebook to pay tribute to his Uncle Bunny.

"Today our family back home in Grafton has lost a great bloke and my Uncle Bunny, he will be missed and always lived life to the fullest," he posted. "I will miss the laughter, and his cheeky smile."
