Valley history:Grafton Police move to new station in Duke St

THE present Grafton Police Station was first occupied on Thursday, October 9, 1975. The new station was built by R.J. Want Pty Ltd and cost $538,000.

At the time of opening the ground floor included a general office, a change area, interview room and sergeant's office.

The upper floor accommodated the divisional inspector, senior non-commissioned officers, licensing and traffic sergeants, detectives, scientific section and highway patrol.

A basement area contained garages and radio room.
