Dennis aims in Secretary's Trophy

THE Grafton Rifle Club fired from the 700 yard mound on Saturday for the first stage of the Secretary’s Trophy.

The 16 competitors shot in bright light with an early changing wind.

The mirage was just visible.

Dennis Hilton and Peter Brown recorded double possibles.

Tony O’Keeffe, Ian Griffiths, Lester Robinson, Derek Higgins and Robert Black recorded single stage possibles.

Top of the rifle in Fullbore went to Peter Brown, with a score of 100.12.

In F Class, John Black won the off rifle trophy with 114.

Dennis Hilton won the daily aggregate in Fullbore while John Black took out F Class.

This week, a small fish-tail wind proved too much for most shooters to handle, although Peter Brown and Dennis Hilton made it look pretty easy. However, Dennis once again showed his dominance and skills by winning the toss of the coin for the aggregate.

Shooting will be from the 800 yard mound next Saturday. Anyone is welcome to come along and try or just have a look. The range is located opposite Koppers, adjacent to the Experimental Farm, Junction Hill. It will be a 1pm start as usual.
