No room for mistakes at grand final

THREE celebrities will be pulling out all the stops to win the coveted mirror ball trophy in the grand final of Dancing With The Stars on Sunday.

Judge Josh Horner reckons it's still anyone's game.

During a recent visit to Brisbane, Horner gave The Guide his assessment of the final four dancers.

While Danielle Spencer and Zoe Crammond have been strong contenders since the beginning, he believes the show is about entertainment as much as technical precision.

"As much as you think someone's really good, if they're boring as bat poo then they're not going to be voted for," he said.

"Danielle's been great the whole thing but to get that extra bit of va va voom out of her is like drawing blood out of a stone at this point in the competition.

"Brendan (Fevola) is very popular with the public.

"People love watching a train wreck. But can I just say although he's a train wreck, if you actually watch Brendan from where he started at to where he's at now he has improved."

Horner would put his money on singer Johnny Ruffo to win the show.

"I'm only judging this on my research on Twitter, and I think Johnny will win because he's got 90,000 followers," he said.

"He's got that X Factor package - he's handsome, charismatic and he has a huge following. He's just supported New Kids on The Block and One Direction.

"If anyone's smart in the media world you understand what gravitas that has.

"That's me trying to be logical on the public vote. Also technically with Johnny he came out with that Dirty Dancing performance which was fantastic."

After the Dancing grand final Horner will go straight into final rehearsals for the Sydney season of A Chorus Line, his first stage role since the Broadway production of Billy Elliot in 2009.

The Australian Ballet alumni plays the show's director Zach, the role made famous in the 1985 movie by Michael Douglas.

"I'm getting excited about it," he said.

"Because I'm a judge on Dancing With The Stars I thought people are going to really judge me, but I have a beard (in the show) and a lot of people probably won't recognize me.

"It's a whole new Josh. I feel like I've really developed as a performer."
