Grand final day goes off at Grafton Hockey Complex

IT HAS been goals galore at Grafton Hockey Complex as Clarence Valley juniors celebrate their grand final day.

Junior girls

The junior girls were first up and delivered two upsets, as two minor premiers were beaten in their deciders.

In the Mods, the minor premiership-winning Sailors Superstars held off a gallant GPS Gummy Bears to win 2-0. Sophie Hinterholzl and Shinea Crispin scored the goals.

In Division 2, Sailors Stars made the most of their chances to unseat minor premiers GPS Leopards 2-0. Josie Bindon and Amelia Kroehnert scored for Stars.

In Division 1, Sailors Chillies were upset by stablemate Sailors Angels.

The Chillies were favourite to win the title, but the Angels shocked the minor premiership winners 3-0 thanks to a double from Georgina Munro and a goal to Emma Firth.

Junior boys

Under-11s

Sailors Scuttlers were always the form team in the under-11s and they finished their season in style.

Bears Big River Pizza tried their hardest in the game, but were no match for the juggernaut Scuttlers who ran home 10-2 winners.

Under-13s

Royals Rangers may have been the undefeated favourites but that did not stop Barbs Bombers from putting up a hard fight.

The game was a closely fought, tight affair with very little separating the sides.

In the end the Rangers proved too strong, winning 3-1.

Under-16s

Bears Elders had to be on their best to unseat Barbs Kookaburras, but even their strong effort was not enough to trouble the minor premiers.

Barbs eventually ran out 3-1 winners, which sealed the minor-major premiership double for the club.
