Grant boost for river project
CLARENCE Landcare and properties on the Nymboida River have won a $92,155 reward for the ongoing achievements of the Nymboida River Project.
Stage six of the project, Protection of Nymboida River Biodiversity, is now under way with assistance from the State Government through its Environmental Trust.
The $92,155 grant will help the project undertake riverine weed control with the aim to protect mature native vegetation frombeing smothered by weeds.
The project also includes raising awareness of riverbank management with a free training day to be held in Nymboida on August 28 on Riverine Plant Identification and Bush Regeneration techniques.
The focus of the project is to protect habitat for native flora and fauna which includes a number of threatened species.
