Grocery secrets revealed: when is the best time to shop?

A REPORT released by Roy Morgan Research last week uncovered a secret known only by a few canny shoppers - that grocery shopping is best done on the quiet of a Monday or Tuesday.

So, want to avoid the crowds when you go grocery shopping? Greg Hayes from Grafton Shoppingworld who has been around retail centres for decades agreed Saturday mornings has traditionally been the busiest day, in fact three times the traffic seen on Mondays and Tuesdays.

According to the research, more than half of us do our 'main' grocery shop on the same day of the week, week in, week out.

"Thursdays also tend to be high-traffic days partly due to late trading and partly because pensions used to be paid on this day and people got in the habit of a Thursday shop," Mr Hayes said.
