Harris learns from the best at NSW Open Pro-Am

GOLF: Grafton Golf Club junior Willow Harris has come away from a tour to Sydney with a lot of memories and a lot more experience.

Harris, who was a part of the team led by emerging PGA Tour golfer Rhein Gibson of Lismore, finished the Golf NSW Junior Pro-Am in second place two points off the leaders at 72.

The event held at the Greg Norman-designed Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course in Sydney was a chance for Harris to go toe-to-toe with some of the best junior golfers across the state while also learning as much as possible from his world record-holding professional.

The Sydney-based course was in good nick for the Junior event before a late afternoon thunderstorm came across and brought play to an early close after 12 holes.

The competition highlight for Harris' team which included Castle Hill's Jordan Garner and Avondale's William Moody involved a long drive from Garner on the par-four seventh which landed on the green.

Harris' grandfather Tony Daly took him to Sydney for the event and said while he might have come second, Harris was still a big winner.

"Just to see the quality of that course and the quality of the professionals on the tour, Willow just would have learnt so much from the trip,” Daly said.
