Harrison Ford injured in plane crash

UPDATE 11.37AM: Ford's son Ben has tweeted about his father's condition, saying that the actor is battered but okay. 

"We can confirm that there was a plane crash and the male occupant was a 65-70-years-old man. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition," said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman, Officer Nuria Vanegas.

"The incident was reported at 2:25pm, it was mechanical failure of plane, that's what caused the accident," Vanegas said. 

EARLIER: A plane crash has left actor Harrison Ford injured according to reports coming from the US. 

NBC Los Angeles is reporting that the 72-year-old actor and pilot has been taken to hospital.

Ford has been part of filming for the upcoming Star Wars sequel.
