Harwood bridge workers raise money for Cancer Council

The Pacifico Harwood project team recently participated in the Cancer Council's Girls' Night In, raising money for the worthy cause to help beat women's cancers.

The ladies of the Pacifico Harwood project team, and the partners of the male team members, spent a night in baking delicious sweets and savouries for their colleagues. The following day, the sales went through the roof with the hungry construction crew spending their cash on snacks, all in the name of cancer research. The team managed to more than double their target of $500, with a total of $1,044.20 raised throughout the event.

Eduardo Gutierrez, Deputy Project Director said the day was a huge success and he was very proud of the team for their efforts and generosity.

"Cancer is something that will affect us all in one way or another. It is very rewarding to see that we work with people who are willing to go the extra mile and give to such an important charity,” said Mr Gutierrez.

The event was a great chance to bond with work mates, do something out of the ordinary and work together to achieve a worthwhile goal.

Every day in Australia, around 50 women are told they have breast or a gynaecological cancer. Sadly, around 12 Australian women will die each day from a women's cancer. Funds raised by Cancer Council's Girls Night In goes towards research, prevention and treatment of women with breast, ovarian, cervical, vaginal, vulva and uterine cancers. Find out more about these cancers, including the prevalence, causes, symptoms, screening, treatment and prevention.

Pacifico Harwood is a Joint Venture between ACCIONA Infrastructure and Ferrovial. The joint venture has been awarded the design and build contract for the new bridge over the Clarence River at Harwood.
