Harwood leggie joins bowls opposition into a spin

JUNIOR CRICKET: Harwood Blue under 12 spinner Troy McFarlane has announced himself as the future Shane Warne of Harwood taking 6-2 off four overs last week.

The Lower Clarence junior ran through his Yamba opponents to have the opposition all out for 48.

Harwood Blue coach Damien Moloney claimed a change from off-spin to leg-spin has brought about McFarlane's success with the ball.

"There has been a big improvement since he switched the way he spins the ball," Moloney said.

"He has a better action with the leggies and he is building confidence in his bowling technique."

Moloney said the entire side walked off the field with grins from ear to ear, with each player celebrating McFarlane's efforts as much as the 11-year-old himself.

"They all take the wickets so to speak," Moloney said. "They have a very good team morale about themselves. It was great to see them all happy that one of their mates had done so well.

"As long as the kids are having fun on field, that is the main event."
