Harwood’s big Harmony Day celebration

KATHLEEN Werry says that in an area of such diversity we should celebrate our differences and this Saturday will be the perfect time.

Kathleen is part of the organising committee for this Saturday's Harmony Day celebrations at the Harwood Hotel and says that the tag line for the celebration "Everyone Belongs" is perfect for what they have on offer.

"There will be an aboriginal arts and language stall, as well as Macquarie University giving a presentation on Aboriginal science," she said.

"There'll also be ladies from the Marshall Island with a stall of traditional foods."

The Harwood Hotel is hosting the event, and will be putting on tasting plates of cultural foods, as well as there being lots of local singers and musicians playing through the day.

The event starts at noon and runs until late, and Kathleen says it will be an event for everyone to enjoy.

"The event started as an idea from some of the Yaegl elders where a few people got together and just grew from there," she said.

"I think it's really important share the diversity of our people."
