Hat’s off to rodeo romance

ON TRACK: Rodeo lovers Elyse Williams and Ryan Dickens.

THERE is no place Bauple couple Elyse Williams and Ryan Dickens would rather be on Valentine's Day than at the Gympie Bull and Bronc Spectacular.

The wild-at-heart cowboy and his devoted fiance have built their love around the arena.

While Elyse and Ryan were in the same class at primary school in Howard, they really caught each other's eye on the weekends while Ryan practised riding with Elyse's brother.

"I'd go down and watch," she said.

Elyse and Ryan, both aged 23, have been inseparable since they were 18 and much of their time is spent travelling to rodeos, as Ryan rides professionally.

"It's our whole life," Elyse said.

So tonight, for Valentines Day, the pair will happily spend their night arena-side.

Sadly, a fractured skull sustained in a rodeo last year prevents Ryan from riding tonight, but Elyse said there would be no stopping him getting "out the back" with his mates while they gear up to compete.

And once the show's over, Elyse said the pair could look forward to a fun night with friends. But as for the romance - for this couple, it's there every day anyway.
