Hawk's Franklin calls on News Ltd to tell his side of story

HAWTHORN star Lance Franklin yesterday challenged News Limited to present both sides of the story after a newspaper report alleged he stood over former swimsuit designer Nicky Rowsell and yelled in her face in a Melbourne bar last Saturday night.

Ms Rowsell used her Facebook account to talk about the incident, describing Franklin as "an absolute disgrace of a human", although she did commend the club for acting quickly.

The club concluded an investigation into the matter on Monday, ascertaining Franklin and the woman began a conversation because they shared a mutual friend.

Franklin then took offence to a comment Ms Rowsell made and the conversation escalated.

The club said Franklin discussed the situation with her on Monday, of his own accord, and the matter was considered closed.

But after the newspaper article appeared yesterday, the forward took to Twitter to say: "Maybe the @Heraldsun should ask Nicky and publish why she approached me and what she said.

"I am not for one minute saying how I reacted was right but when someone comes up and verbally attacks me and the people I care about for no apparent reason I think its only natural to defend yourself.

"But I guess that's not an appealing story is it."
