Here comes the league

IT is coming to that time of year again when the rugby league action heats up and the cricket season winds down.

Clarence Valley’s top clubs, including the Grafton Rhinos, Grafton Ghosts and Lower Clarence Magpies, will begin training in the coming week.

While several key troops have flown their coop, the Magpies are again expected to be a genuine title threat in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.

Training kicks off at the Maclean Showgrounds on Tuesday, January 19 at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.

All players of all skill levels and experience are invited to attend.

It is a similar story for the Ghosts as their season officially commences the day prior.

Go to Junction Hill at 6pm on Monday, January 18 for those interested in having a run for the Grafton-based club.

Training for the Rhinos will start at McKittrick Park, South Grafton, tonight.

Xavier Sullivan’s squad will look to improve on a 2009 campaign which saw them narrowly miss the playoffs in both first and reserve grades.
