HUNDREDS lined the streets of Maclean on Saturday to watch the pipe bands parade through River St as part of the 112th Highland Gathering.

Sixteen pipe bands from across Australia took part in the march, as the sounds of drums and bagpipes echoed through the town.

The Highland Gathering action continued throughout the day, with dancing, pipe and drum contests at the Maclean Showground, as well as the entertaining highland games, featuring traditional events such as the caber toss, before the closing mass band display.
