Highway upgrade alliance applauded

LABOR Candidate for Clarence Colin Clague yesterday applauded an announcement by NSW Road Minister David Borger that an alliance had been formed to plan the crucial upgrade of the Pacific Highway between Woolgoolga and Ballina.

Mr Borger said the RTA had formed an alliance with engineers for concept plans, designs and an environmental assessment for the upgrade.

“This is a crucial section of the Pacific Highway upgrade and $10 million has been allocated for planning,” he said.

“This planning activity will allow the NSW Government to begin building these roads as soon as funding becomes available,” he said.

“The RTA is also seeking project approval for early work at 15 sites within the project.”

An environmental assessment for the early work will go on display for public comment later this year.
