Hip-hoppers go shopping

SATURDAY shoppers were able to enjoy some spectacular entertainment with a lunchtime show of breakdancing and hip-hop at Grafton Shoppingworld.

The show featured students from the local Hip Hop DownUnder dance school and was highlighted by the appearance of two of the big names in the modern dance styles.

Choreographer and dancer Travers Ross and ‘Lamb’, who featured as a contestant in the program So You Think You Can Dance Australia, joined the locals on stage.

“Travers and Lamb came as a favour to me to dance with the local kids and then later they ran a class for the students,” Hip Hop DownUnder teacher Jeremy Jablonski said.

“The concert went really well. The crowd were applauding and it gave the students a chance to perform for a big audience.”

Jeremy, who is well known for performing as a Michael Jackson impersonator, said the dance school was enjoying strong interest for young dancers wanting to learn more about breakdancing and hip-hop.

“Most of the students know about me and come along with some dance experience as well as plenty of talent,” he said.
