Grafton hockey's magnificent seven

SEVEN talented Grafton hockey players were named by Hockey NSW in the NSW Country team to compete in the 2010 FHE Country–City Challenge.

Rachelle Pole was named in the under-18 girls, joining Mitchell Thomas in the boys’ squad, Anna Brotherson and Sallie Forbes in the 15 girls, Simon Colgrave and Darby Fahey in the 15s boys and James Kinnear in the under-13 boys.

The tournament will be played at the McArthur Hockey Complex at Narellan on March 27-28 as part of the High Performance Pathway.

Despite Sunday’s heat more than 60 girls hit the turf for the representative team trials. Selections try-outs continue Sunday with under-15s at 4.30pm, 18s and Opens at 5.15pm.

Finance committee have set the fees for 2010.

The committee has agreed to donate a minkey ball to every junior girl who signs for their first season.

On grand final day all registered senior players will have the chance to win a night’s accommodation on the Gold Coast among other prizes. The next meeting of the GWHA will be Tuesday at the South Ex-Services Club at 6.30pm.
