Hospital running on generators after crane crash

UPDATE 1PM: A Workplace Health and Safety review is underway following an incident involving a crane at the Rockhampton Hospital this morning.

A spokesperson from construction company Hansen Yuncken says there were no injuries to workers or damage to the cranes, plant, equipment or materials.

The incident resulted in power being disrupted to nearby areas including the hospital.

The crane was immediately shut down and will not return to operation until a review is complete.

An internal review is also being conducted.

BREAKING 9AM: The Rockhampton Hospital is running on generators after a crane hit a high voltage power line in the area.

At 6.30am Ergon Energy was alerted to the outage, which affected 235 customers, and dispatched a crew to make the area safe.

Power was resumed at 8.30am, however the Rockhampton Hospital is still running on generators.

The crane appears to be part of the construction at the hospital.
