Hosts set sights on Ashes whitewash

WITH the confidence among his team sky high, Australian captain Michael Clarke guaranteed fans his team would do all it could to win the Ashes 5-0.

The fifth Test in Sydney will start Friday, with the tight-knit side set to enjoy its New Year celebrations.

"We're going to have a go. If we continue to play the way we're playing, the boys will be as ready as they were for this Test match," Clarke said.

"Our goal is to win 5-0. With the position we're in, I don't see any reason why not."

Clarke admitted bowling first in this match after winning the toss was a tough call, but he had plenty of faith in his in-form bowlers to make inroads.

"What it shows is the confidence I have in our bowlers. If there was anything in the wicket for our bowlers I was confident they could do the work, and they did that," he said.

Meanwhile, England captain Alastair Cook said morale in his team was almost at the other end of spectrum.

"With the bat we were 60 for nought, building a nice lead (yesterday). It shows where we're at at the moment as a side and our levels of confidence," he said.

"Where you're winning games of cricket you dominate those positions, when you struggling you can let those positions slip.

"We've got to dust ourselves off and come back to Sydney."
