'Hot' ute on fire at school

POLICE are investigating how a stolen vehicle came to be found burning in the grounds of South Grafton’s Gillwinga Public School early yesterday.

South Grafton Fire Brigade and Grafton Police were called about 2.15am yesterday with reports a car was on fire near the school’s running track.

The fire brigade quickly put out the blaze but not before the four-wheel-drive ute was gutted.

Police searched the area for the driver without success.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from the Grafton area overnight.
