Editorial - Thursday, October 17: I’ll keep nosing around

IT SEEMS the Great Grafton Parking Debate turned out to be a bit of a fizzer at the Clarence Valley Council meeting on Tuesday night.

My opinion may be against popular opinion but I have to admit to being a wee bit disappointed we didn't even get to look at the possibility of nose-in.

I'll take the decision on the chin but I do have to speak up against a number of people who've said reverse "angle" parking is part of a standard driving test. Now, having sat my driving test in Bathgate, Scotland, if I pipe up and say "well it wasn't in my test," you're all likely to tell me to go back and drive in my own country.

But having done a quick office poll - only those who learned to drive in Grafton had to be tested on the reverse "angle" parking.

So for new residents and visitors, it's not so easy.

However, our elected representatives have agreed to take the issue no further and our mayor doesn't want to hear about it for another 60 years.

So until then, I'll continue to drive around until I find a nose-in and keep my trap shut!
